by ALEXANDER NOVIKOV Visit Date:May 10, 2012 Room: Service: Facilities: Location: "I represent a tour operator from Russia. So I can perfectly evaluate the hotel. The problem is that it is run by Indian owner. Everything else comes from this. Lack of service. Rude stuff. Inattention of stuff. The breakfasts are very poor: coffee powder, milk, butter, white american bread, some fruits, fried rice, becon, omlet. That s it. And never anything else. It could be ok for a continental breakfast but it s a resort and you need the variability. But the economy in the hotel knows no limits. For example to gat one omlet you have to wait and stand in the line 15 mins while one person do it with only one pan. Then to get a rice you have to wait another 15 mins or maybe even ask to bring the rice. And if they bring it again then it is only 2 tablespoons of rice in whole tray even if there is a lot of hungry people. And it is the same to the milk, fruits, becon, etc. Trust me, I m very slim person, I eat few, and I have a lot more in my refrigirator then the owner offers for the breakfast in his hotel. One day we decided to have a special BBQ dinner in the hotel on the beach. And in was our mistake again. The indian attitude has made itself felt. The menu on a singboard offered a whole fish for 300 B but actually it was a small piece of a fillet in a plate. (Note: any restaurant on that beach offers a whole fish for this price). Then me friend ordered a BBQ squid for 150 B as the board stated. But he recieved the bill for 250 B. For the question why is the miscalculation the indian waiter said he was sorry and it was a big squid not small one although there was no any difference mentioned in the menu. Please, don t take me as a petty-minded. These are only the details that shows the policy and rude attitude with the whole thing. Another one impudent indian trick was when we asked the owner for the private boat tour around the Phangan island for 2400 B for 4 persons and found 8 people more onboard together with us. We didn t asked for any explanations but we also could see the astonished eyes of other people in the boat who also expected a private tour. The rooms are outdated and the beds are so so hard that it is impossible to have a good sleep. The air conditioner is very old and noisy. Also the room was filled with unplesant strange smell. I can t say anything good about bathroom. It reminds a dark basement with bare concrete walls. Just a modest sink and shower. No tables, no electricity in the bathroom. How they think it is supposed to turn on the fan or electric shaver or electric toothbrush we just don t know. The towels are old, became grey from many years of washing and spiny. The most funnies thing is that the towels are from diverse hotels of the world. With the logotipes like ASIA HOTEL and KURIMA RESORT or smth (I have a picture of it). We believe that they were just bought many many years ago at the indian flea market. The bathroom amenities include only shampoo and bath gel in a very small bottles. It is not enough for two people in the room. Absolutely no understanding of a brend policy. The pool is very dirty, they don t clear it of sand but only added chlorine every evening. We are a group of 4 people who lived there in 3 separate rooms for 3 days would not recommend to stay at this HAVANA RESORT Hotel to any of our tourists. Never. Stay away from this place. There are a lot of other options to stay (hotels or villas) at the beach side. Just take a look for them. by Bjorn Petersson Visit Date:February 6, 2012 Room: Service: Facilities: Location: "Trevligt hotell med bra standard vid den barnvänligare delen av stranden. Dock blev vi först erbjudna två olika rum på entréplan som luktade mögel. Det tredje rummet låg en vån upp och var helt u.a. Vacker strand, bra pool, bra frukost." |

by Anna Lindberg Visit Date:March 13, 2011 Room: Service: Facilities: Location: "Very lovely hotel with nice pool area... breakfast was ok but could be a bit boring after a couples of days because of the lack of choices. The beach is great, very calm and clean water, a minus is no sun chairs on the beach. The hotel owner is a very pleasant guy and the staff is great! Good food in restaurant (thai, western and indian). The ride from the pier to the hotel was a bit bumpy and takes 45 minutes, but well worth it! <span style="display:none">[R24 integr.ERR:escaping]</span>" |

by Janine Swan Visit Date:May 4, 2010 Room: Service: Facilities: Location: "Havana Resort was a pleasant surprise and everything as it looked on their website. Our rooms were spotless and very spacious. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful - particularly the lady on reception who was a star! There were only 2 niggles - the aircon could ve worked better and the umbrellas around the pool had quite a few holes in them but on the whole it is a fantastic place to stay. <span style="display:none">[R24 integr.ERR:escaping]</span>" |
by Katrin Skepp Visit Date:March 5, 2010 Room: Service: Facilities: Location: "This was the best place we stayad at during 7 weeks of travelling with three children in thailand. The resort is so lovely, clean and very green. The pool is amazing. We got the best deluxe room 5 m from the pool (G3), the receptionist thought that it would be good for us as we had children. And she was right. The staff is also very nice and helpful. The only drawback was that the restaurant was a little expensive compared to the others on the beach, but the service was on the other hand better and we actually got all food at the same time, which is rare in Thailand. <span style="display:none">[R24 integr.ERR:escaping]</span>" |
Very fast and efficient. I booked at the last minute and got a response in a matter of hours!, September 15, 2008 by Shana Fromkin Visit Date:September 9, 2008 "I had mixed feelings about this hotel, as I feel that it is really overpriced for what you get. On the positive side, the rooms were well decorated and comfortable. The pool is nice (although there is some construction next door). The room had a safe which allowed you to set your own combination. The room was made up every day.The first room I was in had a strong sewage-like odor coming from the bathroom and I was moved right away to a different room. Other than this incident, the staff were okay but did not go out of their way to be helpful. On the negative side, there was no hot water during my stay. The sauna and jacuzzi were not working and I was told they have not worked for 2 months. The food at the restaurant was absolutely horrible and over priced. I had the worst, most expensive meal of my entire trip at that restaurant. There are many other options for eating on the beach, and if you do stay at this hotel, I would strongly recommend that you do not eat at the restaurant. (Try Dolphin next door for breakfast and lunch and Pinjun Bungalows for a cheap, good dinner.)If you need to go to Thong Sala, the hotel will charge you a ridiculous amount of money to take you unless you can go at the same time as a bunch of other guests, which may not work with your schedule. You can get a taxi from one of the other resorts. While this was not a bad hotel, there were several other options on the beach which are much better value for money than the Havana, which is really overpriced. Thong Nai Pan Yai beach is amazing and I definitely recommend the beach but I would consider other options for accomodation. <span style="display:none">[R24 integr.ERR:escaping]</span>" |
